Photoroom is a broad AI photo editor with mobile apps and Shopify catalog sync. Shoptic is a narrower alternative to Photoroom, built for stores on any of eight platforms, covering photos, video and listing copy on every plan.
Photoroom is an AI photo editing tool for e-commerce that removes backgrounds and generates scenes, videos and on-model shots from a product image, on web, iPhone, iPad and Android, and syncs a connected Shopify catalog on its higher plans. Shoptic is an AI content platform for e-commerce that connects to the store catalog and generates product photos, product videos and SEO listing content, with one-click publishing back to the connected store.

Photoroom
Photoroom's Marketplace sync imports the products of a connected Shopify store and publishes the edited catalog back to it in one action, through an official app in the Shopify App Store. Its own page closes with the note that support for additional marketplaces is coming soon, so as of 25 August 2026 Shopify is the only catalog connection documented on the public site. The Amazon, eBay and Etsy pages describe editing and exporting images, not connecting those catalogs.
Shoptic
Shoptic connects natively to Shopify, Tiendanube, Mercado Libre, VTEX, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Wix and Squarespace, and to any store that exports a Google Shopping product feed. If the catalog does not live on Shopify, that is the difference between reading products automatically and moving files by hand.
Photoroom
In Photoroom the store features sit on the upper plans. Its help center states that publishing, downloading and exporting from the Shopify catalog require Max or Ultra. The Video Generator is available on Max and Ultra, 4K image and video resolution is Ultra only, and the pricing FAQ notes that export limits apply to visual assets up to 2K resolution.
Shoptic
Every Shoptic plan, Free included, has access to the full library of generation styles: photos, angles, macro detail, Model Shot, Swap and video. What changes between plans is catalog scope and volume, not which tools you are allowed to open. The Free plan works on a single product with watermarked images and no commercial use, and every paid plan works across the full catalog.
Photoroom
Photoroom generates video and says so plainly: turn any product photo into a realistic video using 300+ e-commerce templates, your own prompt, or both, delivered as an MP4 in under a minute. It runs on web, iOS and Android, and it belongs to the Max and Ultra plans.
Shoptic
Shoptic generates product video from photos that already exist in the connected catalog, in UGC style or as a Rotation clip that shows every side of the product. It sits in the style library of every plan, including Free, and nothing has to be filmed.
Photoroom
Photoroom writes listing text as well. Inside the Shopify catalog it can auto-generate SEO titles, descriptions and alt text, and it produces SEO-ready file names and WebP images across the catalog. What we did not find documented is text generation outside a connected Shopify catalog.
Shoptic
Shoptic writes titles, descriptions, meta titles, meta descriptions and tags from the current listing, a SKU or a URL, for any natively connected store and for stores connected through a product feed. The same run that produces the images can produce the copy that goes with them.
Photoroom
Photoroom runs two meters at once: Pro lists 8,000 AI credits and 1,000 exports, Max 25,000 and 3,000, Ultra 75,000 and 10,000. An export is any image you save, from the editor, from Batch or from a Shopify sync, and API and MCP usage draws on a separate allowance. Core tools such as background removal, retouch, resize and image enhancer cost no credits at all.
Shoptic
Shoptic runs one meter: one credit equals one standard image, and some features consume more depending on complexity. Draft mode generates at one credit per image so you upscale to 4K only the ones you keep. Monthly credits renew each month and purchased extra credits do not expire.
Photoroom
Photoroom's toolbox is wide: over 1,000 templates, AI Backgrounds Studio, Virtual Model, AI Shadows, AI Expand, Retouch and a set of batch tools. Several of the heavier product operations, among them Flat Lay, Ghost Mannequin and Photo Composition, are documented on the API side rather than as app features.
Shoptic
Shoptic generates front, side, back and detail angles with visual consistency, macro close-ups that show real texture, and Model Shot for apparel and accessories on AI-generated models. Swap replaces one or more products inside a scene you already generated, without rebuilding it, and all of it runs in the browser with nothing to install.
Cheaper entry point. Photoroom lists Pro at US$12.99 per month, or US$89.99 for the year. Shoptic's cheapest paid plan is US$15 per month billed annually. On top of that, Photoroom's core tools, background removal included, consume no AI credits.
Native mobile apps. Photoroom runs on iPhone, iPad and Android as well as the web, and describes itself as trusted by 80M+ users. Shoptic runs in a browser. If you shoot and edit on a phone, in a warehouse or at a market stall, that is a real difference.
A public API and an MCP server. Photoroom documents a REST API billed per image, US$0.02 on the Basic plan for background removal and US$0.10 on Plus for the full set, with 10 free production calls and a watermarked sandbox, plus endpoints for Virtual Model, Flat Lay, Ghost Mannequin and Image to Video. It also exposes an MCP server for tools like Claude. Shoptic has no public API or MCP server yet.
A wider editing toolbox. Over 1,000 templates, 300+ video templates, batch tools, AI Shadows, AI Expand, Retouch, Product Fixer and Image Enhancer cover a lot more than product scenes.
Room at the top. Ultra reaches 75,000 credits and 10,000 exports. Enterprise is quoted as Custom, with pricing tailored to the business, and the paid plans allow up to 50 team seats. Shoptic's largest plan is 1,800 credits and up to three stores.
Pick Photoroom if the work is images first and a store second. It is the better fit when you edit on a phone, when you sell across Amazon, eBay or Etsy without a single catalog behind them, when you need an API or an MCP server to wire image editing into your own pipeline, or when the breadth of the editor matters more than what happens after the file is finished. On a Shopify store, its Max and Ultra plans cover the round trip properly.
Pick Shoptic if the unit of work is a connected catalog and that catalog does not live on Shopify. Tiendanube, Mercado Libre, VTEX, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Wix and Squarespace are native connections, and any store with a Google Shopping feed can sync as well. Shoptic also keeps photos, video and listing copy in the same run on every plan, including Free, instead of unlocking them tier by tier, and the product and its support ship in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
The two are not mutually exclusive. A team can keep Photoroom on the phone for quick cutouts and one-off edits and use Shoptic for everything that touches the catalog. What usually decides it is which platform the store runs on, and whether you want video and listing text without moving up a plan.
